Aidan Quinn, Didi Conn to visit Palisades, discuss acting

Sneden’s Landing resident Aidan Quinn will discuss his acting career at 3:30 p.m. this Sunday as part of the Palisades Library’s Sunday Symposium series. Quinn reportedly will talk about his work in movies such as “Desperately Seeking Susan” and his Emmy-nominated role in “Bury My Heart at Wounded Knee.”
Also slated to chat about acting is Palisades resident Didi Conn, who’s known for her roles in the feature film “Grease,” the sitcom “Benson” and the PBS show “Shining Time Station.” She also appeared in Julie Taymor’s film “Across the Universe,” part of which was filmed at Muscoot Farm in Somers.
Fun facts! According to IMDb.com, Conn once visited Nyack Middle School to see its production of “Grease,” whose Danny Zuko role was played by “Freaks and Geeks” star John Francis Daley. Most recently, JFD appeared in four episodes of “Bones” as Dr. Lance Sweets.

Clooney was quietly wrapping up a New Rochelle shoot at a “private home and inside CostCo” for the Coen brothers movie “Burn After Reading,” according to a Sept. 21 county press release. The film, which also stars Brad Pitt, is about a former CIA agent who writes memoirs after being fired. Perhaps Clooney forgot this weekend that he wasn’t playing Evil Knievel.
Also according to the release, Westchester “soon” will host Oscar winners Streep and Philip Seymour Hoffman for the big-screen adaptation of “Doubt,” the Tony Award-winning play. Streep plays a Catholic school principal who accuses Hoffman’s character, a priest, of pedophilia in 1964. “Numerous locations will be used,” but the county does not specify which.
Bedford resident Glenn Close, a five-time Academy Award nominee, didn’t have to travel far to film parts of her new TV series, “Damages,” in a featured Harrison house and, earlier this month, in the Rye Town Hilton.
Somers state police are reporting that actor Rip Torn was being “processed for DWI … following an accident in North Salem.” Police said the two-vehicle property damage accident occurred at about 3 p.m.

We just got word that the Arena family episode  that would be the one filmed in the Northern Westchester town of Purdys, about the family who lost their son to a brain tumor  is re-airing this Sunday, Oct. 22, at 8 p.m.
